Project 2025, Musk and the unhinged, albeit ironclad American coup d'état

"We the people are the rightful masters of both Congress and the Courts, not to overthrow the Constitution,

but to overthrow the men who would pervert the Constitution."

- Abraham Lincoln

Lately, many Americans are expressing frustration, wondering why federal judges appear incapable of stopping DOGE as Congress seems to just sit back quietly. Though the answer is somewhat complex, it can be broken down in relatively simple terms:

You might recall that during the 2024 election, frequent references were made to something called "Project 2025."

The architects of that document were seasoned constitutional lawyers. Over the last four years, those lawyers, alongside a massive team of political experts, were reviewing law after law and loophole after loophole, ensuring the final document was ironclad. Throughout the process they were consulting not only with Mr. Trump and his team, but also with Republican members of Congress and conservative Supreme Court Justices, keeping them abreast of their progress. While voters might have only been thinking about the election during the final months leading up to it, the authors of Project 2025 were thinking about it even before the infamous insurrection of January 6th, 2021.

You might likewise recall that Mr. Trump claimed he had never read Project 2025 nor knew the individuals who authored the document. That's rich considering he's essentially adhered to the text in every executive order he's issued. Likewise, he's rewarded the architects of Project 2025 with prominent roles in his administration.

The 47th President’s blatant dishonesty shouldn’t come as a shock to anybody – not even his most blindly obedient supporters.

In fact, if B.S. were a musical instrument, Mr. Trump would have a brass band. On January 24th, 2021, Glenn Kessler, Salvador Rizzo and Meg Kelly presented a comprehensive analysis indicating that over the course of his first term in office, Mr. Trump told a total of 30,573 lies.

This brings us around to the “Department of Government Efficiency.”

How is it that an unelected, unscreened, unconfirmed, and unhinged Elon Musk and his merry band of grifters can seemingly get away with an unprecedented coup? Why is it that Democrats like Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar say we haven't yet reached the point of a constitutional crisis?

Simple: Because we haven't.

The Project 2025 team was good -- damn good. Like it or not, it’s a rock-solid document that can stand up against even the most rigorous legal and constitutional objections.

Americans were warned. It was no exaggeration to suggest the document would change the nation, shaking our fragile democracy to its very core. Some Americans chose not to believe, most didn't read it, and many simply didn't care.

Frustrated voters are certainly entitled to maintain a naive sense of hope for the midterms. However, even Democratic members of Congress have expressed frustration that their party has lost its "brand," seemingly catering to a hyper-woke, hyper-privileged, largely Gen-Z demographic. They've admitted they are defeated by the Trump administration. They're struggling to regain momentum -- especially when the Democratic National Committee recently elected reckless Gen-Z firebrand David Hogg as their new vice chairman.

"I think the Democrats' brand is really bad, and I think this was an election based on culture. And the Democrats' failure to connect on a cultural basis with a wide swath of Americans is hugely problematic," Senator Mark Warner, a Virginia Democrat, recently told Politico. He added, "I think the majority of the party realizes that the ideological purity of some of the groups is a recipe for disaster and that, candidly, the attack on over-the-top wokeism was a valid attack."

When asked if Democrats would learn anything from the last election, Warner said his party needs to acknowledge the "over-wokeism," adding, "Until you can make a cultural connection, I'm not sure people are gonna listen to you on issues."

Even if Democrats do somehow manage to stop the MAGA movement, it will take at least a decade to recover from the aftermath. As I've noted in previous commentaries, the best we can hope for at this point is that MAGA will implode from within. Regardless, rebuilding from this moment in history will be a truly arduous task and America will never be the same again.

Likewise, as I’ve previously mentioned, in this new Trump-Musk America, the rich will become richer, the middle class will cease to exist, and the poor will become poorer. The fat cat oligarchs will feast on food harvested not by immigrants, but by the poor, the elderly, and the opposition – this was all part of the plan in the infamous Project 2025. Whether or not you read the document, you’re living it – page by notorious page.
